JESUS WOKE UP!

Matthew 8:23-27

Then Jesus got into the boat and started across the lake with his disciples. Suddenly, a fierce storm struck the lake, with waves breaking into the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” Jesus responded, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly all was calm. The disciples were amazed. “Who is this man?” they asked. “even the winds and waves obey him!”

The disciples were experienced fishermen. Their fathers were fishermen. They grew up on the water. But, no one can control the wind and the waves. We can’t even do that today. They are two examples of the incredible forces that exist on this earth. Wind and waves can damage and destroy at an incredible capacity. And, they seemed to be about to destroy the disciples. That’s when they woke Jesus. One wrong choice or decision, whether it was our choice or another’s can change our lives forever. But, Jesus is always waiting to be invited or “awakened”.

When was the last time you “woke Jesus up”?

Granted, Jesus is now in heaven at the right hand of the Father. He doesn’t need to sleep. But, he does need for us to invite him into our storms. It is as simple as calling on his name and surrendering the problem to him. When we surrender, we let go, acknowledging that we can’t do anything to fix it.

Lets face it, we need Jesus!

We are panicked but he is calm. We are scared, but he is not. He wonders why we ever doubted him in the first place. He was in our boat all along. All we had to do was ask. “You have so little faith!” He says. Then, he goes to work. He brings all that he is to the situation. The problem is no match for his power and wisdom. We are in awe and he is glorified. All in a days work for Jesus. Whatever the circumstance is, call on Jesus. Worship. And trust him. He’s got it. Call on him today!
